Was wondering what kind of bottom paint people are using on the bay? We’ve used Petit Trinidad on our Hans Christian 38 for the past eight years to good effect. However, I’ve just had all the paint removed to apply an epoxy bottom and it looks like there are many sub $200/gallon paints out there that might do the job just as well?

Thanks,
Todd

The best one I have used for low non race boats is Trinidad SR, 2 coats performed well for 2 years.

I have Imterlux Ultra on my boat. I don’t have it scrubbed very often but it has lasted over 4 years and recent report said it was still looking good with no hard growth. The more often you need bottom cleaning, the faster it will scrub off. I swiped the rudder lightly with a soft bristle brush and it came up stained blue from the paint. I don’t think any of the bottom paints are very effective at preventing the slime growth. The algaecide in the Ultra only worked for a couple of months after it splashed, and it quickly grows back after a hull cleaning.
