Topic: Discussion / Someone to do teak deck seams? I’m looking to find someone that knows how to re-do teak deck seams… in other words remove the sealant and replace with new sealant. If you can recommend anyone I’d appreciate it! Thanks! |

Topic: Discussion / Rigger recommendations? I redid my rig in 2007 at Svendsens and I was happy with the work. Chris Tibbe was the guy there at the time and he was great to work with! That said I felt like I had to go over the bill with a fine tooth comb though because they accidentally billed me for a few items that had nothing to do with my boat. |

Topic: Discussion / Diver recommendations? We just got back to the bay area after several years of cruising. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced and responsible diver that will come to the east bay (Emery Cove) to clean the bottom of our boat? I say responsible because last time we were in the bay area we had a diver who I discovered was only cleaning the first couple feet that were visible and when I went down with a snorkel and mask I was shocked to find the rest of the hull untouched and dirty. Thanks, |

Topic: Discussion / Capsizing in a 22 footer Dick, it sounds like you might be a beginner so before you go out on the bay where it can be quite windy with tankers coming and going I would recommend taking a lesson at Club Nautique Their Basic Keelboat class will teach you enough to take your 22 footer out on the bay safely! |

Topic: Discussion / Sailing from San Fran to Monterey Hi Mike, I do a casual daysail to Half Moon Bay. Then from Half Moon Bay I depart well before daylight (say 3am) to make Monterey in the afternoon (it’s roughly 65nm from HMB to Monterey). Another option is to do HMB, Santa Cruz, and then Monterey. Or just do it in one overnight shot. The hops are short enough that you can find a good weather window (provided you’re willing to wait) most times of the year but if you’re taking time off from work then I’d probably go for either late April/May/June or September/October when the chances of a good weather window are higher. |

Topic: Discussion / Bottom Paint Recommendations Wanted! Was wondering what kind of bottom paint people are using on the bay? We’ve used Petit Trinidad on our Hans Christian 38 for the past eight years to good effect. However, I’ve just had all the paint removed to apply an epoxy bottom and it looks like there are many sub $200/gallon paints out there that might do the job just as well? Thanks, |

Topic: Discussion / Marine facilities with maps I just came across this site on the web: http://www.activecaptain.com/OTW.php which looks like it might be a promising new way to lookup marine facilities in the bay! However, for a more current and very up to date list I still like boatingsf: http://www.boatingsf.com/facilities_index.php -Todd |

Topic: Wanted / Bosun's Chair or some way up my mast Chris, I’d recommend hitting West and buying their bosuns chair or you can hit REI and buy a climbing harness for even less (but it won’t be as comfortable to sit in as a bosuns chair). -Todd |
