Topic: Bottom Paint Recommendations Wanted! I have Imterlux Ultra on my boat. I don’t have it scrubbed very often but it has lasted over 4 years and recent report said it was still looking good with no hard growth. The more often you need bottom cleaning, the faster it will scrub off. I swiped the rudder lightly with a soft bristle brush and it came up stained blue from the paint. I don’t think any of the bottom paints are very effective at preventing the slime growth. The algaecide in the Ultra only worked for a couple of months after it splashed, and it quickly grows back after a hull cleaning. |

Topic: Diver recommendations? Todd I recently had a bottom cleaning and zinc replaced by Todd Florey of Tradewimds Sailing School. He did an excellent job and his price was very reasonable. He primarily works at Marina Bay in Richmond where the Tradewinds boats are located but You could ask if he does work at other bay area marinas. His card says Diving and Yacht Maintenance so he probably does other boat repair work also. I wont post his cell number, but here is the nimbler for Tradewinds where you can ask to get in contact: 510-232-7999 |

Topic: Diver recommendations? We just got back to the bay area after several years of cruising. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced and responsible diver that will come to the east bay (Emery Cove) to clean the bottom of our boat? I say responsible because last time we were in the bay area we had a diver who I discovered was only cleaning the first couple feet that were visible and when I went down with a snorkel and mask I was shocked to find the rest of the hull untouched and dirty. Thanks, |

Topic: Bottom Paint Recommendations Wanted! Was wondering what kind of bottom paint people are using on the bay? We’ve used Petit Trinidad on our Hans Christian 38 for the past eight years to good effect. However, I’ve just had all the paint removed to apply an epoxy bottom and it looks like there are many sub $200/gallon paints out there that might do the job just as well? Thanks, |
